Dear Friends, First off, let me say thanks so much for being a subscriber to our newsletter. Please know that I never take you for granted, and I am grateful to each and every one of you who takes the time out of your busy day to read the messages that I have sent out. I love hearing from you and about how a message speaks to you, or perhaps has helped you in your journey in some way. As I never thought of myself as a writer in the past, it never ceases to amaze me when the words flow onto the page and make sense. For this I am grateful as well. We had a fabulous time at our, It’s All About You event in January. I think everyone would agree that those three hours just flew by. This month, Melissa is facilitating our meditation course with some wonderful ladies, and we now have a waiting list for our next one. Please let us know if you are interested in being added to the list and we will contact you. On March 5, I will have a booth at the Holistic fair in Riverview. For more info on this event, check It out here, http://clayhuthealingcentre.ca/events-fair.html. Drop by for a visit. It would be great to see you again and/or meet for the first time. In March, I will be hosting a seminar on the Law of Attraction, with tried and true ways to put it to use for you! It will be held on March 27th, 2011, from 1pm-5pm, additional details will follow shortly. If this is something you are interested in, or have questions about, please call or email me for more information. This topic has always been near and dear to my heart, in fact, it was the first seminar I ever presented back in 2003. Now on to this month’s message. Enjoy! Quote of the month: “During my second year of nursing school our professor gave me a quiz. I breezed through the questions until I read the last one: ‘What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?’ Surely this was a joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, asking if the last question would count toward our grade. ‘Absolutely,’ the professor said. ‘In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello.’ I’ve never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.” -Joann C. Jones February 2011 What’s kindness got to do with it? This month I wanted to write about a favourite topic of mine that I feel can be highly under-rated much of the time. That is kindness, and its amazing effects on mankind. Think of a time in your life when you were at a low point and someone did something completely out-of-the-blue for you and it instantly lifted your spirits, made you happier, more energetic, etc. In Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book, The Power of Intention he speaks of research that has shown a simple act of kindness actually creates more serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter in the brain that plays a part in the regulation of mood, sleep, and the constriction of blood vessels. It is a naturally occurring substance in the body that makes us feel more comfortable, peaceful, and even blissful at times. In this research they speak of how the recipient of an act of kindness gets their serotonin levels increased, and their immune system strengthened just by receiving an act of kindness. Not only that, the provider of this act of kindness also receives the same. Even more exciting, a person observing this act of kindness has their levels increased, just by being in the energy field of this exchange. Well, if this doesn’t give you incentive to spread a little joy and kindness around I don’t know what will. It is incredible to think that we have a key to increased wellness for our fellow man just by being kind. With this knowledge, I cannot imagine what would stop us. I challenge you this month, this month of February, a time of year that tends to make a lot of people sad, discouraged, depressed, anxious, or perhaps just apathetic, to see how much serotonin we can spread around. Let’s help our fellow human beings through acts of kindness, small or large and see what we can create. Let’s spread kindness through our homes, cities, towns, and thanks to modern technology, across the world. What is stopping you? What is stopping me? Go ahead, Try a Little Kindness! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMvMGCTxZwg Sending you love and light to help you shine even brighter, Bev |
